WHAT DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR A FALL/WINTER/SPRING SPORT?
• Complete online registration for the current season at (Fall, Winter, Spring registration)
• Current Physical/Medical information turned in to athletics office. If you already have one on file you do not need to resubmit as long as it is still valid. Physicals are valid for 365 days from the date it is conducted.
• $200.00 participation fee is due at the time of registration. Must be paid before the first day of practice.
WHEN IS ATHLETICS REGISTRATION DUE?
Completed online registration is due one week before the first day of practice for the current season. Late registration may be accepted, however due to high volumes information may not be processed immediately.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE IN A SPORT?
An Athletic fee of $200.00 is charged for every season. There is no family or single person max.
WHY DID THE ATHLETICS PARTICIPATION FEE INCREASE?

THERE HAS BEEN A GENERAL INCREASE OF COSTS IN RUNNING PROGRAMS. OFFICIALS, ENTRY FEES, DUES, EQUIPMENT, CHSAA DUES AND UNIFORMS HAVE ALL INCREASED IN PRICE.

DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE ATHLETIC FORMS PACKET EVERY YEAR?
Yes, all Athletes who are participating in sports, must complete the entire athletic registration process prior to the first official day of practice. If the athlete participated in a Fall Sport, online registration is still required; however physical/medical info on file is acceptable for 365 days from physical exam date. $200.00 athletic fee still applies. If the athlete did not participate in the Fall Season, the entire online registration process must be completed. Physical/medical information forms can be found on the online under the forms tab.
The athletic registration process must be completed in its entirety with current physical/medical information on file with the athletics office. Incomplete registration will not be accepted and the athlete will lose their opportunity to practice with their sport until the process is completed. All athletic forms are to be turned in to the Athletic Office at Castle View. Do not give forms to coaches.
WHEN IS THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE?
- Fall Sports begin the second week of August
- Winter Sports begin mid-November
- Spring Sports begin late February
All athletes are eligible to participate once online registration has been completed and physical/medical information has been turned in to the Athletic Office.
WHEN IS THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE?
Pre-season conditioning is held by every sport before the beginning of the official season. Athletes should see their coaches for specific details. Many sports teams require the athlete to complete the athletic registration and turn in physical and medical info to the athletics office before competing in preseason activities.
WHEN IS THIS PARTICIPATION FEE DUE?
Athletic fee of $200.00 is due at the time of registration, and must be paid prior to participation. Any financial circumstances must be discussed with the Athletic Director, Derek Cordes.

IS THERE A REFUND IF I AM CUT FROM THE TEAM?
Yes. If the athlete is cut, a refund will be issued. If the athlete chooses not to participate after signing up the athletics office must be notified of a request for refund. If a student is hurt or injured after the initial two week period, a partial refund may be granted by the Athletic Director. If seeking a refund, the athletic office must be notified and the Athletic Director will determine if the refund is given. No refunds or carryovers to other sports will be given unless approved by the Athletic Director and/or proper notification was given to the Athletic Office. If an athlete is suspended or has any discipline matters there is no refund. If an athlete quits or is ineligible after the initial 2 week period, no refund will be given.

Winter: Boys/Girls Basketball, Girls Swim/Dive, Wrestling, Ice Hockey
Spring: Baseball, Girls Golf, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Girls Soccer, Girls Tennis, Boys/Girls Track & Field, Boys Swim

Activity pass gets students in FREE.
WHAT IF I DO NOT KNOW IF I HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL?
A current physical is required for all athletes (including incoming 9th graders) and the physical is good for 1 year from the date of the last physical. If your student has a current physical on file, the physical date will be verified at the time of submitting the athletic registration.
WHERE CAN I GO TO SIGN UP FOR A PHYSICAL AT CVHS?
CVHS typically offers physicals at the beginning of the school year. You can also visit your physician’s office, “The Little Clinic” at King Soopers or Contact Front Range Sports Medicine to schedule an appointment (303) 688-8855
WHAT ABOUT MY GRADES?
Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) Eligibility Policy: Per CHSAA, all incoming 10th-12th graders must have completed and passed 2.5 units of class from the previous semester, including summer school to be eligible to compete. Per Castle View’s block schedule a previous semester refers to Terms 3 and 4 from previous school year and any summer school classes approved by Douglas County School District. Any student who does not have 2.5 credits is not eligible to compete until a date determined by CHSAA. The athlete may however participate, but the athletic fee will not be waived or refunded under these circumstances.
Castle View Eligibility Policy. Along with the above CHSAA requirements, a weekly grade eligibility reports is run on Thursdays and given to Coaches. If a student has 2 or more F’s, the student is not eligible to compete for the following week (Monday-Saturday).
Some programs at Castle View do not allow a student to compete with just one F. Please make sure your student athlete is aware of the eligibility policy for CHSAA, Castle View and their team. Please contact the Athletic Director if you have any questions or concerns.
CAN I PARTICIPATE IN SPORTS IF I AM TRANSFERRING TO CASTLE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL?
If your athlete is transferring to Castle View, please contact the Athletic Office to review the additional forms that will be needed for your athlete, and to discuss eligibility for participation.
HOW DO I KNOW AS A PARENT THE EXPECTATIONS FOR MY STUDENT ATHLETE?
At the beginning of each sport season, every team will have a parent/athlete meeting. These meetings are usually held the week before the first date of practice and/or the week of the first date of practice. Information is given out regarding the season expectations and what support is needed from parents. These meetings are important and will give you insight into the Athletic/Activities program here at Castle View.
WHERE CAN I FIND ACCURATE SPORTS SCHEDULES?
Need to know where to look for sports schedules - www.continentalleague.org. Sign up for an account and get notified via email of any changes or updates. There is also a web application you can load to your phone.
Very important. Schedules, times, and locations can be changed at the last minute, please always check with your athlete and www.continentalleague.org.
IS IT OK TO DROP OFF MY ATHLETE’S EQUIPMENT AT THE SCHOOL?
Due to the huge volume of students, we cannot take sports equipment for your athlete in the main office. We appreciate your help with this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have an emergency.
SABERCAT ACTIVITY PASS $40
- Gets you in to all CVHS Varsity Sporting Events, except play-offs
- Football, Volleyball, wrestling, boys and girls soccer, basketball, track and field and lacrosse
- All DCSD sporting event gate cost have gone up to $4 for students
- Cost of sporting events for students to attend
- 100% of all Sabercat varsity sport events would cost $260
- 75% of all Sabercat varsity sport events would cost $195
- 50% of all Sabercat varsity sport events would cost $130
- 25% of all Sabercat varsity sport events would cost $65
- Convenience of not needing cash for all home games and showing your activity pass that is located on your students I.D.

HOW DO I BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE SABERCAT BOOSTER CLUB?
There are many opportunities for service within athletics & activities. Each athletic team and activity fundraises and hosts events. You are encouraged to check with the head coach and/or the lead to find ways you can be involved.
