Program Philosophy

CVHS golf will be as competitive as possible.  Each tournament will allow the top five qualifying players for the week an opportunity to compete against some of the best junior golfers in the state, subject to the discretion of the Head Coach.

Try-outs

Nine-hole try-outs this year will take place on August 5^th at Broken Tee 2:00; August 6th Lone Tree 2:40; August 7th Red Hawk Ridge 2:00.  All golfers trying-out will be responsible for their try-out fees and will pay those directly to the golf course before play each day (players will need to write their names on their receipts and turn-in the receipts to the Head Coach prior to teeing-off each day); players are expected to attend all three days of try-outs.  This year’s CVHS golf team will consist of the top sixteen players (the Head Coach will have discretion over the final number of players) after try-outs.  Those sixteen players will be determined primarily by total strokes over the 3-day period.  ATTN. PLAYERS AND PARENTS: Because of the limited availability of tee times given to CVHS by the golf courses cuts are usually necessary.  Regardless of class standing (Senior, Junior, Sophomore or Freshman) players are not guaranteed a spot on the team, the Head Coach reserves the right of discretion for special circumstances. There will be a mandatory player/parent meeting on 7.22.24 @ 5:00pm in the CVHS Sabercave, please enter from the north side of the building. 

Fees/Paperwork

The school athletic fee of $200 per player will be due along with all athletic forms with registration opening online 7.22.24.  All fees and paperwork are due no later than 7.31.24, sports physicals can be turned in no later than 7.31.24.  I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE AN E-MAIL FROM EVERY PLAYER PLANNING ON ATTENDING TRY-OUTS NO LATER THAN July 15th.  Additionally, there will be a $50 per player golf shirt fee due on August 12th, players keep the shirt and a team fee of $325.  Players cannot participate in try-outs without having completed a sports physical and online registration, there are no exceptions to this rule. Equipment

All players will be responsible for the following:

*Golf Clubs

*Golf Bag will be checked out to each player and returned at the end of the season.

*Golf Balls

*Knee length shorts or pants – gray, white and black in color (cut-offs and cargo shorts are not allowed), no denim, collared shirts are required, hats must be worn bill facing forward.

*Rain Gear is optional

Rules of Golf

Please complete the Rules of Golf Test located on our web site (http://www.sabercatsports.org.prod.sportngin.com/page/show/2444112-boys-golf), be sure to provide the rule number and the page number where you located your answer in the Rules of Golf book for all questions including true/false questions.  Please e-mail your completed test to Coach Hedges no later than August 1^st.

Hole Sponsorship

We are asking every player to secure a hole sponsorship from a local business for the tournament we are hosting at Meadpow Hills on August 17th, cost of a sponsorship is $125 per hole.  We will need to have all sponsorships in place no later than August 10^th so we can have the signs prepared in time for our tournament.

Physicals

Every player must complete a physical exam each year before the first day of try-outs. Physicals can be completed at your family physician’s office or the Little Clinic at King Soopers.
