Distance Coaches BRIAN MARSHALL Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, I started running as a freshman in high school, where I set the school record in the 3200m, and placed third in the Nevada State Championship as a senior. I went on to compete collegiately in Cross-Country and Track and Field at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where I graduated with a degree in English Literature. As a post-collegiate I still train nearly everyday, with the intention of setting PR's as long as my legs will let me.
My coaching tenure began, informally, at the age of 14 when my parents bought me a copy of the Jack Daniel's Training Formula for Christmas. Throughout my high school career I wrote off-season training plans for myself and my teammates, and continued to help coach younger athletes at my high school after graduating. My first official coaching position was working with the middle school distance team at Monument Academy, helping coach athletes to 6 individual league titles and 5 school records in two seasons. Distance running at Castle View has established a strong presence in recent years, and I am excited to help continue that legacy of hard work, consistency, and success going forward.

In 2014, Lyons also co-founded the Elizabeth Running Club, developing a high school running club for middle-to-high school athletes and managing the operating budget for equipment and other fees.
Prior to arriving in Colorado, he served as an assistant cross country coach under Dan Flynn for one season at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. While there, Lyons assisted the head coach in workouts and daily training, implemented strength training, and worked with athletes dealing with motivational/disciplinary issues. Lyons graduated from the University of Vermont in 2009 with bachelors degrees in anthropology and history.
